Snow white was my favorite story during my childhood days. I loved the Disney cartoon. More than snow white I loved the dwarfs. But my favourite character by far was the magic mirror. Imagine if it were true. If it were used to compare market competition rather than for vanity, so much more could probably have been achieved. Especially in todays Dot Com Industry.

The competition is so high that as soon as you think of an idea, someone’s already out with something similar. Same is the case with me and my site. So how do I stay in business?

I remember my management teacher saying, “In a business, first identify what your customer would want to do and then, always give what the customer wants.”

Thats it !!! What would a customer want on my website? I guess he’d want to search for jobs. So lets make it bigger and clearer…

As there are no magic mirrors to tell me whether its better than before , I thought I’ll ask my users. Not just ask, but give away gifts for the best feedbacks. Thus we are holding a contest…

There used to be a coconut tree in my backyard at home. A couple of years ago, when I was there, I got it cut down. My 4 yr old neighbor watched patiently the whole process of the woodcutters coming, till the tree was carried away in a lorry. Once all the commotion was over he comes up to me and asks me, “Uncle, why did they come and cut your tree?” My casual reply to him was, “It got too big, and too close to the electric wires. It could get dangerous, so I had it cut down.” Phat came the next question, “Uncle, what is the world’s biggest tree?”

I really don’t remember what I replied but when I think about it now, how exactly do you reply to “biggest”? Had it been tallest, I’d have said, “The Giant Redwoods of California” or had it been largest, I’d have said, “The Banyan tree canopy in Calcutta”.

In today’s Indian market, IT recruitment has become a big business. Various players have already established themselves as the “Giant Redwoods” in their niche areas be it job portals such as Naukri.com or Monster.com with a million user database or be it recruitment firms like Addeco or Ma Foi with record closures.

A twist and turn, a bruise and burn. Thats how it feels being a part of an entrepreneurial start-up venture.  You never know what to expect. Tracking the competition is difficult especially when you believe that you are coming up with a product that’s entirely different. Financial constraints hamper the speed of marketing thoughts. Patience is of virtue but the wait is long and sometimes frustrating. Falling market trends do not help. Just one hope, one belief that one day when someone is looking for a job change or knows someone looking for a job change, they’ll say, “Why don’t you Zyoin it?”

A dream: Whenever I ask about something to friends and they are not very sure or fail to give the right answer they say, “Why don’t you Google it?” Google is a company. They have a website ‘www.google.com’ which is probably considered as the best search engine. But… the popularity of this search engine has converted its name from a noun to a verb in spoken english.

One day I’ll change the rules of spoken English. A noun to a verb.

Frankly I never understood the concept of blogging…. was never quite interested in reading in someone else’s “diary”. Thats what most people told me when I asked them what a blog is… A person’s sharable “diary”.

So what is a blog? what do you guys think? I’d be grateful if you could share it with me.

So why do I have a blog? well… Lets just say I wanted to talk about myself, share how I feel about certain things, how certain events effect me or just pass an opinion on something… I’ll be using this as a platform to share both professional and personal experiences of both myself and the people I interact with.
